Port Security

Customers should feel safe and secure. The Port of Dover has its own dedicated Police Force and the Cruise Terminals are fully International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code compliant.

Under the regulations of the ISPS Code 2004 the Port Authority is responsible for creating and maintaining a secure area around all vessels.

As a condition of entering this restricted area you may be required to submit yourself, your baggage and your vehicle to a security search

Failure to comply with these regulations could result in a refusal to enter the restricted area for onward travel.

Any items that could be used as an offensive weapon will be confiscated. You will have the option of having any legally confiscated items returned to you on your return but this will incur a storage and administration charge of £30 plus postage, all other items will be disposed of by the Port of Dover.

We fully understand the frustration that these checks can cause to our customers but the Port must carry them out by law and co-operating fully with the security staff will enable them to carry out their checks in a matter of minutes and get you back on your way.

Abuse or violence against any staff will not be tolerated and will result in the Police being called.
